PABLO MARCOS and THE SPIDER!

It's official! The legendary Pablo Marcos is THE SPIDER's new illustrator! I can hardly contain myself!

Pablo has been one of my favorite artists since I was about twelve years old. His masterfully moody pages from Marvel's Tales of the Zombie horror magazine held me spellbound. It quickly became my favorite series, as I was sort of growing up out of the mundane super-hero comics of that era.

Imagine my excitement two decades later when I actually got to meet Pablo, briefly during his visit to the Tekno Comix offices, and shake his hand. That was a great day for me.

Facebook was instrumental in bringing us together again, this time as artistic partners. I rather shyly pitched the notion of THE SPIDER to Pablo and he completely astonished me by enthusiastically agreeing to be the new illustrator. I can hardly express how much this means to me.

Having artists Tom Floyd on Ki-Gor the Jungle Lord, Ver Curtiss for Black Angel, and now my long-time hero Pablo Marcos drawing THE SPIDER, I'm a very happy writer.

In the meantime, if you'd like to gaze at the grandeur, check out Pablo's work at:

Still more thrilling news for THE SPIDER is coming...!

  3. AWESOME.

Simply awesome. I'm 38 years old and Marcos' art has thrilled me on hundreds of comics for as long as I can remember.

He's really a master of his craft.

You two on The Spider will form an amazing dream-team.

You got me all giddy already.

Bring on The Master of Men by Powell and Marcos!

    Bring it on, I say!!

  4. I've never heard of Tales of the Zombie title nor unfortunately Pablo Marcos, but from his artwork it looks like you are in good hands. I'm surprised at times how broad comics, music, and the arts in general can be at times.

  5. Most comics fans know of Pablo Marco's awesome art through his many stories in Marvel's b/w SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN magazine in the 1970s. He also did some BATMAN comics around that time.

Pablo's signature character, though, is Marvel's zombie-hero Simon Garth, for which he illustrated every story in the horror magazine except one, working with legendary industry writers like Steve Gerber and Doug Moench.

By the way, the entire classic run of TALES OF THE ZOMBIE has been collected in a single Marvel Essential volume. This is roughly 500 pages of some of the best horror comics ever created for less than $17.00.

    Highly recommended.
